Puaka

Puaka was created with the aim of participating in the "Joints" GameJam.  Was made within a week, Puaka is a platformer shoot'em up game. Puaka is challenging and might be stressful, but when you achieve it, it will be fun!

Telling the stories of our little skeleton named Jerangkong and his fireball spirits named Banaspati. They both woke up in a middle of a forrest and started to infiltrate the castle of a known ghost (?) or maybe something is already wrong with the "queen".

We also take some references and assets to achieve the theme announced, "Retro".

Puaka took some references:

1. shooting mechanics : Contra, Cuphead, Megaman, Hell is Other Demon.

2. move mechanics : Celeste, Hollow Knight, Hell is Other Demon.

3. Level Design : Metroid, Hell is Other Demon, Cuphead.

4. Visual Design : Pixel art retro games.

5. Audio : Retro Games.

About assets and credits:

About 98% of the visual assets are made by our game artist. Not all are hand-drawn but some are from Internets and we modified (recolor,reshape) it to fit in our game. The VFX mostly came from the engine itself. About ??% of the Audio assets are made by our music composer. All the SFX are from Internets and we modified it (pitch,reverb,etc).  All the music are made by our composer.

We use several software to work on this project.
